Damian Strozier Cobb County, GA Armed Murder Suspect: After Officer Involved Shooting on Leland Drive and Windy Hill Road

Authorities in Cobb County, Georgia have launched a large-scale manhunt for a suspect wanted in connection with a murder investigation after an officer-involved shooting near Interstate 75 on Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Cobb County Police Department, officers were searching for 31-year-old Damian Strozier around 1:00 p.m. in the area of Leland Drive and Windy Hill Road when they encountered him. Strozier was wanted on an outstanding murder warrant issued by the Atlanta Police Department. Police reported that during the encounter, Strozier allegedly pointed a handgun at one of the officers. The officer then fired their service weapon. Authorities say the suspect fled the scene on foot and has not yet been taken into custody. No officers were injured during the incident.

The confrontation sparked a massive search operation in the surrounding area, which includes residential neighborhoods and businesses just off the busy interstate corridor. Law enforcement units, including SWAT teams, were seen searching nearby apartment complexes and wooded areas while officers set up roadblocks and monitored vehicles leaving the area. Investigators say Strozier is considered armed and dangerous, and residents have been urged not to approach him if seen. Authorities instead advise anyone with information to contact emergency services immediately.

The murder warrant stems from an earlier incident in Atlanta in which police say a woman was struck by an electric scooter rider who fled the scene; the victim later died from her injuries. Strozier is accused in that case. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has been requested to review the officer-involved shooting as the search for the suspect continues. Authorities say the investigation remains active and additional updates will be released as more information becomes available.
