According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), the collision occurred around 5:07 a.m. along U.S. Highway 77, just south of Orphanage Road. Investigators say a green Chevrolet Camaro, driven by Joey Gael Estrada, 22, of Austin, was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes when it collided head-on with a silver Honda Accord.

Adelaida Gomez was a passenger in the Honda Accord and suffered fatal injuries in the crash. Another woman in the same vehicle survived but sustained injuries and was transported for medical treatment.
