James Gleason Blanchster, OH Accident Death: Community Mourn Of The Death Of James Gleason, Who Died In A Fatal Crash

A fatal motorcycle crash in Blanchester has left one man dead after authorities say he fled from a traffic stop late Thursday night. The incident, which occurred along Ohio State Route 133, is now under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

According to officials, the crash happened at approximately 10:11 p.m. when a trooper attempted to stop a 2025 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle that was reportedly traveling at a high rate of speed within the village. Authorities say the rider failed to comply with the attempted traffic stop and accelerated away from the trooper, initiating a brief pursuit.

Investigators reported that the motorcyclist continued speeding along State Route 133 and entered a marked no-passing zone. During the attempt to overtake another vehicle, the rider tried to pass a 2023 Ford F-150 pickup truck at the same moment the truck began turning left onto Northview Road.

The motorcycle struck the driver’s side door of the pickup truck during the maneuver. Following the impact, the motorcycle left the roadway and collided with a roadside sign. The force of the crash ejected the rider from the motorcycle.

Authorities identified the motorcyclist as James Gleason of Beavercreek, Ohio. Emergency responders arrived quickly at the scene, but Gleason was pronounced dead there due to the severe injuries he sustained in the collision.

Officials have not reported any serious injuries involving the driver of the pickup truck. The roadway was temporarily affected as troopers conducted their initial investigation and cleared debris from the crash site.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol continues to review the circumstances surrounding the incident, including the events leading up to the attempted traffic stop and the crash itself. Authorities often remind drivers and riders that fleeing from traffic stops significantly increases the risk of serious accidents, particularly on rural or two-lane roads where visibility and passing opportunities may be limited.

As the investigation remains ongoing, troopers are urging motorists to obey traffic laws and cooperate with law enforcement during stops in order to prevent tragedies like this one.
