Temple, TX Shooting Incident: Rafael Mason, 43, Arrested and Charged with Aggravated

Authorities in Temple, Texas have taken a suspect into custody following an incident on Wednesday evening that left one person injured and prompted a rapid police response.

According to the Temple Police Department, officers were dispatched at approximately 7:19 p.m. to the 1500 block of Piedmont Street after receiving reports of gunfire in the area. When officers arrived, they discovered that an altercation had occurred and that one individual had sustained injuries during the incident.

Police quickly identified 43-year-old Rafael Mason as a suspect. He was detained shortly after officers arrived on scene and was transported to the Temple Police Department for further questioning as part of the ongoing investigation. Authorities later confirmed that Mason has been arrested and is facing a charge of aggravated assault involving a weapon. He has since been booked into the Bell County Jail.

Emergency responders also provided aid to the injured individual, who was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Officials have stated that the victim’s injuries are non-life-threatening, and no additional injuries were reported in connection with the incident.

At this time, investigators are continuing to gather evidence and interview witnesses to better understand the circumstances that led to the altercation. Police have not released further details regarding what may have caused the confrontation or whether additional charges could be filed as the case develops.
